Thank you for such kind replies- I am hanging on!!!!!!
More drama if that is possible!
Whilst in tears trying to deal with customer services of VW about our car- basically it needs new gera box which was replaced in 2008!!!!!! byt the same people it is now with- they are saying we are one month out of our two year warranty so we need to either pay and get a new one or take the car away!!!!!!
I asked my barrister brother for advice which he gave and phoned them up and complained sorely about it and how unaccpetable we thought it was. The total of the work done two years ago was £4,000!!!!The gear box was so so expensive and there were a few little things needing doing too. I stated how loyal we'd been etc, that I am expecting imminently and without a car now and all the rest.
They said they'd approach the garage and discuss so I left it as I was becoming too overwrought worrying about it all.
THEN the nice young GP who has seen me about four times in the past few weeks rang to say my last urine sampel ahd grown a rather nasty infection and I needed special anti-bios asap! My heart was fluttering (not at him at the urgency in his voice!) and he said the hospital needed to talk to me. The midwife was very calming , and explained that the microbiologist was having to double check these anti-bios before they give them to me and that I may need to go in for IV ones...great, more fretting, with no car and husband at work!
She rang back to say I could take the pills and Dr prescribed them for me. She said the UTIs were too frequent and they want to do a kidney scan on Tues and also for me to come along to see all the Drs again for a check up. If left untreated she said it can cause prem labour and they really don't want this for me...
Ben had his helmet on and was cycling down to collect the pills before I could ask- it has been so much easier and more enjoyable having older children this time round and they are just little godsends to me. Ben was 7 when our last baby was born and is now this huge 14year old young man!!!! He was back within half an hour with this tiny box of six pills which we all howled in laughter at as he'd taken his empty rucksack for the tablets!!!!!!
The news on the car is the VW are offering us a 25% discount on a gear box costing £3,500- NO WAY, I told Mark, not that we can afford it anyway, I would rather walk every where than pay them again. They have been grossly uncharitable to this situation and I feel evry upset and angry with them all.
Everyone we have told has agreed that gear boxes should last much much longer than two years and they are in the wrong here. Mark is trying to deal with it on top of teaching courses, meetings and working as I just cannot cope with it right now.
Thank God we have Emma so near us now who has been immensely sweet and offered to drive us everywhere and anywhere....
Better go before I bore you all silly!
Amanda

Oh Amanda, it never rains but what it pours!! You poor soul, having to cope with all those things happening to you. I just hope now that B-day is so close things will improve, and you have a straightforward birth. Take care, Kathleen x

Hi Amanda
Hope the pills clear up this infection and all gets sorted out on Tuesday when you have th scan. So sorry to hear you are going through so much at the moment. With regards to the car, like all have said this is totally unacceptable having paid such a large sum of money for the work done just over two years ago clearly shows something is amiss somewhere, possibly mechanical error when the new one was fitted. This whole scenario warrants the Anne Robinson Watchdog treatment, but obviously easer said than done - you could threaten them !

Hi,
Just to say that we've been to the hospital today and all is better than I anticipated which is promising!
It did take a mammoth two and a half hours but I had Mark there to make me giggle.
I had already gone to do my sample so Mark walked into the huge waiting room of pregnant women and asked a nurse if this is where all the pregnant women wait??? ha ha
Needless to say she laughed.
My sample is not clear, full of rubbish but apparently not nitrates which incinuate an infection like a UTI so they think the anti-bios have done something. They are sending it off to test it first before they think up another anti-bio to put me on!!
All he other checks went very well- BP normal, amazingly as I begin to panic as soon as that arm band is around me, and the baby's heartbeat is so fast and strong.
They all said things like looking forward to seeing you on Sunday. They may have to give me liquid iron via IV as my HB has dropped again.
The last few days the vomiting has returned and the acidity hundredfold so I am not too comfortable. It seems that everything I eat seems to disagree with me so now I eat a tiny bit and often which is basically all day as I am SO ravenous!!!!!
Baby is moving so much which is a great feeling and I am now contemplating how much I'll miss my bump!
Must begin packing this week! I will need to bring in quite alot of clothes for me....a mini suitcase I think!
Love,
Amanda

Hi Amanda,
I'm so glad to hear that 'bump' is doing so well. Dreadful being so uncomfortable but at least you don't hae too long to go now. You must be torn between excitement, apprehension and worry about arrangements for your brood. I can't belive the time is nearly here. Thinking about you.
Any news on the car?

Hi,
I am worried about you too Julie! You sound as if you're having such a tough time- hope the cold goes soon.
Well, Mark argued and discussed with VW head office all day yesterday about the car and the whole situation. They agree they are in the wrong but the last and final offer they have now placed before us is 50% off the whole job plus the garage themselves will knock off a bit more. It comes to approx £1,450....which we do not have...
The other possible option is my friend has told me she wants to sell her van- it is the same as ours but newer. We are awaiting to hear what she'd like for it but it's a tricky situation as she's back living in New Zealand now and is only here for a month....again, we have no money but my parents keep offering to help which is wonderful but we must make the most sensible decision...all this on top of the imminent birth is so stressful and unbearable..
I had a nasty panic attack last night- one where you awake panicking, they are awful. I had to lay there massaging my own hands, ha ha ha. And spraying bach rescue remedy! Mark was deeply asleep but woke up when I told him and patted me and turned over!
I am about to begin packing at some point soon....honest!
Love,
Amanda

Hope you have a better night tonight Amanda - everything seems much worse in the night. It is very stressful trying to work out the best plan with limited funds. Hope you manage to come up with a solution that works soon.
Good luck with the packing and organising - it will be a big task to organise everything but very soon you will be back home with a new baby and all the sickness, heartburn and anxiety will be a distant memory! Take care - thinking of you all XX Ailsa
